Tout est parti d’une dictée organisée par notre fille, à la maison, autour d'une table. 

Un texte, un auteur, une voix… puis du papier et un crayon. 

Le graphisme, l’orthographe, la grammaire… des liaisons, des conjugaisons, des accords. 

Des rires, du sérieux, la correction… et encore des rires — mais surtout … pas d’écrans !

Au final, un voyage au cœur de la francophonie. 

Inspirés par cette expérience familiale, nous avons lancé le projet La Dictée de la Silicon Valley 2026. 

L’idée a mûri lors d’une discussion, puis s’est concrétisée grâce au soutien de l’École Franco-Américaine de la Silicon Valley et de l’Alliance Française Silicon Valley. 

Ensemble, nous souhaitons redonner goût à la lecture, à l’écriture, aux belles pages et au partage autour de la langue française.

Et quel meilleur moment pour cet événement que la semaine de la francophonie et le premier jour du printemps !

Nous sommes un collectif, à but non-lucratif, et organisons cette dictée dans le but de créer du lien et rassembler autour d'un moment de partage et de convivialité.

It all began with a Dictée organized by our daughter, at home, around a table. 

A text, an author, a voice… then paper and pencil.

Handwriting, spelling, grammar… liaisons, conjugations, accords.

Laughter, seriousness, then comes the correction… and more laughter. But above all… no screens !

In the end, a journey into the heart of the francophone litterature.

Inspired by this family experience and by the rediscovered joy of Dictée, we launched the project La Dictée de la Silicon Valley 2026. 

The idea took shape during a discussion, and became a reality thanks to the support of the French American School of Silicon Valley and the Alliance Française Silicon Valley.

Together, we hope to rekindle a love for reading, writing, beautiful texts, and sharing around the French language.

And what better time for this event than Francophonie Week and the first day of spring ! 

We are a non-profit collective, and we are organizing this Dictée event with the aim of building connections and bringing people together around a moment of sharing and conviviality.
